We bolted the OMP aluminum tow hook to the core support as high as possible to still fit in the opening. I have been towed in by this hook when my intercooler pipe popped off. Worked just fine.

This is a pretty neat idea. Where did you bolt it to? Got any pics without the bumper or could you take one through the grille to see the attachment point? Thanks!

Here are some steel hooks with several options:

For the screw in type, you have to weld in the mounting bracket to the crash beam?

Smike, it looks like Hot Lap Motorsports isn't making tow hooks anymore?

These guys have some steel options but without the front bumper off, I really don't know the right length:

I guess I could use your image as a guide:

^^ No. that setup requires cutting the end of the crash beam off and then some welding and bracing. Its not bolt in.

Checked out a car with the Benen tow hooks today and was not impressed with hooks. Looked nice, but the front was flimsy for my standards. More of a show peice IMO. Granted it would probably get the job done.

This Evo also had the rear hook, but after inspecting the front I didn't want to waste my time inspecting the rear.

^^^ I agree. This was my first hook & it was not a proper tow hook. Aside from it being too proud, sticking out of the bumper cover, I dont think it would hold up during a tow

Get a Rennline. It folding & built to tow. And you wont bust yo knee on that lollipop

7"?

7in x 4in with 3in hole. W/o mounting holes for end users to fit up.

7 worked for getting just enough to stick out through the bumper. Just has to be enough out for a hook to get into it.

Oh...and paint it red. I remember that it there when working around the car. Nobody else seems to. My dads hit my front hook on the race car a few times now
after looking at smike's thread I made these guys:

Also made one with straight side, I'll post a pic tomorrow. Having them powder coated red. If anyone wants one pm me, I'll whip some out when I'm doing my buddies.

$40 shipped.

it installs like Smike's write up:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mo...on-w-pics.html

they are pre-drilled in the hook to make install easier; just tranfer punch them to the crash beam, drill, and bolt up. There are 2 row so you have adjustment for the extended length.
