Pretty amazing what Loeb and Pug was able to accomplish.

Nice job to Dave K for doing what he could with the conditions.

It looked likes PP didn't use any qualification times to thin the field down. In fact, I'd say they were on the light side of racers for the event.

that is the comment they made in WRC because his lines are perfect and fast that it seems "boring" compared to the flair of the competition.

It goes to show that drifting isn't the fastest way around the track. I watched his run on redbull TV, granted their broadcast was crap, but you could see how much speed he carried and how smooth he drove. Definitely a living legend!

Oh i got it.
Well those comments are more of a jealousy then anything else. And a lack of understanding of racing. Of course they have to find a problem in anyone and Loeb is hard to criticize...
But you have to so you have something to talk about... very usual news and commentator behavior. If you cant find facts, you have to start making things up... like Ken block consider a show guy and slow... but he was still in the first 15... so which is you want? Lol

Loeb is VERY entertain to see and watch. Specially if you know what you have to see.

I mean ken block is nice to watch but for me he is way more boring then Loeb or Latvala etc.

I am not arguing with you just making my opinion on those Loeb boring comments.
If anything is boring about his driving then a while circuit racing including F1 NASCAR etc must be a most boring motorsport ever. But some reason they dont find a similar or closer driving lines boring anymore...
Never mind hill climbs or time trials.. lol

I've watched that video twice now, it amazes me how easy he made it look. You can see the whole 'drive' up the hill he's not even fighting it. There's the difference between the pros and myself!

I wonder how much of it is the car and how much is the driver. I'd imagine they put some fancy electronics into that car (Diffs, traction control).

At about halfway, I started to get nervous just watching.

I was also hoping they would show his heart rate throughout the video. That would be really cool to log heart rate. Hmm, I have an open input on my TraqMate, anyone ever tried it?

I would lay a bet that if you asked Loeb in private, he would tell you he didn't push the car very hard at all. Its not the type of race that you push 10/10 and he is so comfortable in these kind of serious terrains that his 8/10 is faster then what most would be able to do.

It looked liked he made use of the car's power to weight ratio to it's advantage. Braking hard on the corners and driving fast out due to its massive power and lighter weight. any Scandinavian drifting at all? None. Fast -yes, boring-yes, drifting-no.

I noticed that too. Somewhere I read the Pug did 0 - 100 in 1.6 sec or something, so heavy brakes and hard accelleration made for a quick run.

I wouldn't say boring by any means, watching him use the whole road, pushing every inch of throttle the car had... even a few rev limit bounces in high gear.

Also notice that he went to 1st around a lot of the sharper turns. Gearing was right on to keep the car in power.

I suspect you've nailed it with this comment. Dumas was actually supposed to be the guy driving this car, but Pug ended up going with Loeb. I'd guess that if Dumas drove it the result would've been very similar. Honestly, as a privateer who struggles to get track time, the difference between the pros and everyone else is massive. Seat time is king...and truck loads of money doesn't hurt either.
