Back to back 20min sessions - 6 speed

I have signed up for a NASA HPDE 3 along with AWDAttack! at PIR July 13th-14th. Looking at the schedule, this puts HPDE 3 and AWDAttack! sessions right next to each other.

I am driving a 6 speed running low boost (330awhp or so) on 92 oct (300ish tq). I have had no problems with the transmission so far running 20 minute sessions of 1 warmup lap, 8-10 hot laps and 1 cooldown lap.

My current plan is to: run the HPDE session, drive into the pits, drop off my passenger, pop the hood and spray down the transmission with water before going back out onto the track for the AWDAttack! session. Is this a good idea?

What are the chances of my tranny not liking being sprayed down with water after a session?

My AAA is up to date so... at least the car will make it to ER if something happens.

Can you enter/leave pits during sessions? You could run shorter sessions, IE 1 warmup, 4-6 hot laps then 1 cooldown.

I don't know about the spraying water thing, but do you have good fresh lube in the tranny? Best thing you can do before a long hard weekend is a fresh fluid change.

At that power level I wouldn't worry about it.
On open track days I ran mine up to 45 mins at a clip, filled it with fuel and back out again. I put close to 15K Track miles at 350 WHP and never had a problem. YMMV

I wouldn't run that HPDE session, and that tranny will give up on ya sooner or later.

Hehe. Seems everyone has different opinions. I should probably also state that here in the Northwest, our "Summer" temperatures peak in the 80s but so far track days have been in the 60-70s. I would expect that weekend in Portland to get mid to high 70s.

So far, I think I will try:
  • shorter HPDE and AWDAttack! sessions (cut HPDE short and start AWDAttack! late, 2-3 minutes on both sides so ~5 minute cooldown gap along with cooldown lap from HPDE session)
  • change my transmission fluid
My main concern is not blowing up the car followed by getting the most track time possible.

How much money did you say you have in your Replacement Transmission fund?
