Master Cylinder Bracing

Might be a debatable topic but after seeing GS's brace I couldnt resist

Just unboxed it today & it really looks & feels stout. Will put it on this weekend

I would have liked to have measured the firewall flex using a dial indicator to confirm the movement. Some say there is approx .125" of flex

Did a non scientific test tonight. Had my wife depress the brake pedal while I watched the MS move in the engine bay

No doubt it moves. Im sure that brace you bought will reduce that

Post a pic after its installed

I had one on my 2011 WRX, which had a terribly thin firewall, so it was very necessary.

I'm not sure about the firewall on the Evo, but Grimmspeed has high quality parts.

i have one, it felt more solid. imo, no difference during normal driving but during autox and hard braking it "seemed" like it did what its suppose to do.

one thing i didnt like is that lil red thing should have been made 1 piece with the bolt.

I have mine on for about 2 weeks...It is a heavy weighted piece. I wish it was lighter. My pedal seems firmer and I recommend this piece. I did research trying to find others for a Lancer Evo, and really couldn't find any at all, so I got the Grimmspeed piece.

On that note for those of you whom are getting cages or have access to a fab guy I'd make your own bracket during that time. My guy made a simple one that connects under the MC. I'd not a big fan of having anything between the strut bar and the tower.

After having a not so stiff pedal on my track car Eclipse and learning about master cylinder braces for other cars (in fact I think it was the evo X pieces that piqued my interest) I too looked at my firewall and saw huge movement. I had a brace fabricated and it made a MASSIVE improvement in the pedal feel. I suspect my firewall had degraded/weakened over time (it's a 16 year old car after all) but thought I would offer up that in concept CAN help, and drastically at that.

Night and day difference in pedal feel in the bottom half of the range of travel.

I just tracked my car for the first time with it this past weekend, so happy I picked it up. Now for cooling ducts...

Only other one I have seen is the Cusco front strut tower brace that has a brace fabricated into the strut tower mount.

Put the dial indicator on it & measured approx .040. Was not the perfect measurement setup but took numerous readings. That was with my light weight wife on the pedal w/the engine on
Curious if the car was moving w/a hard brake application if the movement would be greater

Anyway, mounted it up. Took approx 1/2 hour

Nice job there Joe on the measurement

Not sure that .040 is worth the needed correction
