Any thoughts on the Voltex V5?

Not sure if this has any performance merit when ran with appropriate front aero or if it's a hard parker special.

I do like the aesthetics though.

yeah, i noticed after i posted. we can fab the brackets for far less than $300.. so maybe i can just get the wing with uprights, in the chassis-mount width.

I love my DHP Composites wing.

Have you ever heard of the LoveFab NSX? DHP built all the aero for that Pikes Peak NSX.

what bothers me is the lack of actual data on so many wings.

- voltex actually works, but theres no data (no public data on any of the japanese wings to my knowledge).
- dont beleive aeromotions data is public
- ive known of dhp for a few years, but dont know what their foundation in aero is/how they came up with their designs.

i put together a half assed spreadsheet over the winter comparing the apr 300/both versions of the 200/kognition. i may go back and add the 250 if i have some free time. it brought out some very interesting facts about the drag.

I agree. I know Voltex and Varis are functional, but all the info I find is in Japanese. They build serious cars...that's all I know.
I sent Kognition a Facebook message and an email to DHP (their site was down). No replies so far.
It's looking at, due to avail and known info, I may be forced back to an APR GT250...which isn't a BAD thing, I guess. At least it's not APC :-D

do you mean gtc 200? the 250 is the newer 2d wing that doesn't have an evo specific mount currently.

the new version of the 200 is quite good in cfd.

kognition is very busy and only produces in batches like every 3 months now.

I thought our distributor shows a 250 for my car, but maybe I read it wrong. I like that the 250 was reported to be more functional <120mph than the others, if I read right as well.

they will do custom 250's, but its not immediately available for evo's.

if you look at the CFD data, the new version of the 200 WITH gurney, seems to outperform the 250. i also still sort of feel that a 3d element is a good choice on our chassis shape.

drag can be a VERY important piece of the puzzle depending what class/power you are running.

i've only done two events with the Aeromotion wing. have not been able to compare any data with the old APR GT200. Car has been in the shop getting new motor. The airfoil on the Aearomotion looks to be very low drag. At minimal AoA, the rear of the car was very loose on street tires. On Rcomp, was still somewhat loose. Instead of increasing AoA, i'm going to add a gurney strip to it.

thanks for the info. when i'm back to the shop, i'll look again. i have no issues cutting holes for mounts.

the 250 with gurney flap is actually what i was looking for. i don't have to worry about conforming to a class; i do HPDE so it's for my own enjoyment and that is with anywhere between 390 and 450whp, depending on the fuel i run. our shop is chasing a 2.00.xx on Buttonwillow CW13
i keep reading the 3d shape is good for Cd, but i have yet to do more research. i've been so busy at work lately.. i haven't had time.

without data on either, the Aeromotion looks A LOT like the APR 250.. but i get vendor pricing on the APR stuff.. that is swaying me heavily. it's a HUGE price difference. now.. if i could afford that Dynamic wing.. LOL
i have seen a guy with a Miata that used a motor from a headlamp and made his own dynamic wing. very cool stuff.

That's very cool indeed. Found a possible new use for my miata parts once i finally kill it.

definitely. the only issue i saw is that it's wired to the brake switch to go full AOA when brakes are touched. there is no modulation. i suppose it just means you can brake later, etc.. but what if you only need a bit of brake to adjust attitude. having that wing go to full lock, right away, may feel... weird.

unfortunately they dont list any decent gurney flap numbers on the 250. id call apr, since it says they do do custom mounts and make other wings for evos so it may not be terribly expensive in the scheme of thing.

i just think about all things too much, anything from aeromotions/kognition/apr will probably be fine...i just cant stomach the money for voltex with no data.
