CAE Ultra Shifter

Looking for any one who has tried these in an Evo, or other platform. I'm considering adding one to my winter work list, but was looking to get some feedback.

I drove an E46 with one recently and loved the feel, as well as the fact that the distance between the wheel and knob was decreased quite a bit.

Any comments, suggestions, thoughts? Anyone seen it in an Evo?

Thanks for posting the picture! I should add, I'm considering this on my X, which primarily lives on the track, though I'm interested in hearing any ones experience.

IMO, Its a $900.00 piece of equipment that should be coupled w/a true race tranny & all the other race bits

It does have an enormous cool factor for sure

i am not sure what am i looking here. Still H - pattern?
If it is, then TWM full shifter kit with an extender and a metal shifter knob . just as fancy or racy for a lot less. Probably just as good.

My X GSR tranny held up just fine through 25+ events this season; when it does bite the dust well put something built in. I still wouldn't consider a built tranny a "race tranny" like I would a dogbox or a sequential setup.

Yep, its still a H pattern shifter. I am running the full TWM kit right now with an AMS tall knob, but Im not terribly thrilled with it overall. I certainly would like it a bit taller still - perhaps an extension is the best answer.

The advantage to the CAE setup is that it moves the actual mechanism up, so while the lever is taller (which also provides more leverage), shifts are actually equal or shorter to an OEM (or closer to) setup. At least this is my understanding having talked to some E46 folks who have used them - as well as some reading on the Rennlist forums.

I was just looking to see if anyone had tried this on our platform for comparison as I know comparing the shift feel in it to an E46 is not really fair.

Always wondered why TWM does not offer a cage for 8/9

You could always raise the stock shifter with longer bolts and spacers for alot less. Very cool piece of hardware though, I didn't know they offered something for the Evo. For what its worth I have TWM shifter extender with a AMS long derlin knob and puts my hand plenty close to the shifter, any closer would be useless actually.

My solution. Had some shifter risers made.

I raised my cage with 2.5 or 3 inch spacers can't recall now but 900 for that seems steep. Why won't a x cage fit in a ct9a ?
