Some of us have epic work spaces where nothing happens and other have apartment single-car garage with full builds. Lets show them off! Share our ideas for space usage and what-not.
I finally added some lights under the shelves and its made a huge difference after the CNC blocked off some of the old basically inadequate lighting. Still need better overhead light but its an improvement for now.
I definitely need a shop, but doing what I can with the space I have.
I built this detached shop about 2.5 years ago. 30x40 with 14' ceilings and a separate clean room. I was able to build relativity cheap as I am a contractor. I keep making improvements all the time mainly storage and shelves etc. My recent and best addition was that 4x8 metal fab table that weighs about 600 lbs. I am not gonna lie I could use more space for all my ****.
Thats bad ***, definitely lots of stuff in there. Took me a bit to wrap my head around the Evo and Miata in there. We almost bought a house with a 30x50 shop that would have been epic but that deal fell through.
How much was the quicklift setup? I jack up the car so much that could actually be amazing in my space.
The quickjack was $1300ish I think. I can’t remember exactly. I don’t have the smallest model. It’s very handy and especially good for cars that don’t have good lift points, or not enough lift points to jack the car and then put a jack stand under. I prefer the kwiklift in the background when I don’t need to pull the wheels. I paid my dues with jack stands for over 20 years, so these conveniences were definitely worth the cost to me.
+1 expansion on other bay and kwiklift. Low ceiling syndrome here as well. I told the wife yesterday i'm getting a full lift in a year, wither it's modifying the existing 3 car or doing a whole other house
I purchased my house 2 years ago with the intent of putting in a 2 post lift so having a garage that would fit the bill was a must for me. Not having a wife meant that I could be picky about the things that I wanted I've put a lot of work into the garage to get it to where it is today but its a work in progress. Just a couple highlights I demo'd the old floor and poured a new floor, raised a section of the 2nd floor to accommodate the lift, dug a trench and ran a new 100 amp electrical service to the garage along with water for a sink and cat5e for internet. And of course within there involved adding outlets lights wiring in compressor upstairs welder plug plumbing air lines insulating adding minisplit and lots of other stuff Im probably forgetting. Anyway here are a couple pics to see what Im working with...
