Is S-AFC easy to tune?
I'm looking to compete in STU class next year (any autocrosser here?!
).
STU or even ESP does not allow boost changes so I'm thinking of going with
a full 3" turbo back with some tuning.
Since almost 99% of tuners out there modifies boost, I'm only left with a few
options short of a full blown custom tuning which might be costly.
Apexi S-AFC2 ~$300
MachV ECU+ ~$500
Vishnu XEDE with fuel/timing tune only but requires custom map ~$900
Works P2?? ~$500
Not sure about ECU reflashes... I've heard Al sell mail-in ones for $200??? I can't
seem to find it anywhere... plus he will have to tune one w/o boost (will be
costly?)
So back to the question... is Apexi SAFC easy enough to tune... I have no
experience what so ever regard to tuning.
Thanks,

I don't know that I'd count on STU class surviving past this year. Participation has been pretty low and I believe that the class is tentative at this point pending membership interest.
The SAFC is easy to tune if you have a wideband, but it doesn't allow you to adjust timing (but it does affect timing indirectly). Some of the other self-tuning options let you adjust timing, but how much sense they make depends on your understanding of EFI tuning. If in doubt, a custom dyno tune is probably your best bet.
A technoviolet M3 AND an Evo. I'm jealous
