2 questions about autocross
If you are under 18 do your parents have to sign something? And from the first car off how long does an autocross take? I'm kinda pressed for time for an autocross, I hope I can go.
Unfortunately, the answers to both your questions are probably best answered by the local organizers.
In SCCA-sanctioned Solo II events, anyone under 18 is not supposed to be admitted to the site at all, even just as a guest/spectator, without a signature from a parent or guardian. Other organizing bodies may have different rules, but given the insurance requirements required to procure a lot, I would assume that most autocrosses have similar requirements.
As far as time commitment, I would plan on at least a three hour stay. That gives you time to register, get your car through tech inspection, walk the course, drive the course, and work the course. (Some events do require a significantly longer stay -- three hours is about the best I've been able to do.)
When I'm short for time, and the event permits it, I volunteer to help with morning setup and then to run the first heat of the day. By volunteering to help set up the event, I can often be excused from any work assignment later in the day. So I can leave well before lunch and have the rest of the day free. You would have to ask the organizers if that's an option for you.
