AS vs STU

AS with street tires vs. STU with no mods

Which do you think an Evo can be more competitive in given the circumstances?

At what level? Locally? Regionally? Divisionally? Nationally?

At a high level, an AS Evo will _never_ be competitive on street tires.
At a high level, a stock Evo would have more of a shot in STU, simply because it's a new, undeveloped class. As (if?) the class pans out, and people build cars for it, a stock Evo will _not_ be competitive.

Locally or even regionally, the car can be kind of irrelevant.

For an un-modded Evo on street tires, run STU in preference to AS.

Unless it's a downpour. Then run AS.

I humbly disagree, Greg, with the word "never". In a downpour, the AS Evo could possibly do quite respectably on full tread street tires. I trophied at the National level (Atlanta ProSolo) using street tires in an R compound class (SM) -- not just street tires, but snow tires.

But on dry pavement, you are right.
