First track day at Buttonwillow
First track day at Buttonwillow
I drove my evo on a race track for the first time at Buttonwillow this past Friday. The event was held by a small group of drifters which were pretty fun to watch. Some guy there had a nice Toyota Corolla AE86 with a S2000 motor in it. Drifting isn't my thing but I rode with one of the guys and it sure does look hard.
I was really amazed at how easy it was to drive the evo fast. My car has Vishnu stg 0+ and with about 4 gallons of 100 and 10 gallons of 91 I managed to get only 60 miles for the entire tank of gas. I didn't have any problems all day until I left the track and noticed that when I push on the brake the steering wheel shakes like crazy. After driving on the track I let the brakes cool each time and didn't put the parking brake on.
Would getting some more aggressive pads clear up any uneven pad material transfer?

what pads do you have on now? if you keep the same pads they may even out over time. the thing to watch is when you come to a stop, release the brake before you stop, don't hold the pedal down when stoped. sound impossible, it is but you can try.
