Good Luck Mark!
Congrats mark!
On a side note, the formula car i was team captain/chief engineer for won the fsae class! And that's after dr woods said I didn't know what I was talking about trying to ditch unsuspended aero. Hahaha.

DUUDE! you should see dr woods now, he and kohler has complete flipped since txax wknd. They're all for sprung aero now. This was a huge battle the early summer months leading into f10 design, we finally abandoned unsprung aero.
Interesting. So then I should probably forget about mounting a GT wing above the front hood directly on to the front strut towers? I was thinking it would be an awesome idea. I'd just need to mount it high enough so I could look under it while I drive.
Like this below only further back - directly over the wheels... With some rods that go down through the hood and connect directly to the axle somehow.. I'm thinking it might help with the natural understeer that Evos seem to have.

I was a suspension designer, tuner, ~driver, for the uta formula cars for a while and i know a few things about understeer, but I am not familiar with the handling characteristics of these evos. I'm still saving up for an alignment kit. I cannot think of any professional series where unsprung aero is legal. Now that being said, it has been attempted, i know lotus tried it and did well until it was banned and I believe it would common if not illegal. There are some common countermeasures suspension designers use to support the chassis against aero loads and maintain good handling, and i would tell you all about them but I think this is the wrong place, start a thread or come to the next meet. I tell you everything i know.
Thanks guys - 3rd was respectable, and I have several ideas for the Winter that should help. The biggest change needs to be final drive gearing. My short slicks cause us to run out of second gear around 56 mph, so we are constantly upshifting/downshifting using 3rd and 2nd gears. It wastes time and unsettles the car not being able to stay in 2nd. The car handles well, but I think our speed in corners should be higher. Over the winter, we need to test and may need some adjustments to springs/dampers, but most importantly, a bunch of 2010 driving to get more experience with the car.
Thanks again for the good wishes.
