the driveway from my understanding is a pretty short track. i've never been there myself, but we talked to another evo guy at HHR, and he said HHR was quite a bit nicer (although off hand, i do recall him saying he only got to do the "Stage 1" which isn't the full circuit there). driveways not nearly the size or length needed for F1. not to mention being able to seat upwards of 100,000 people. their site says its 90 acres for the complex. the news articles were saying the F1 circuit will be a couple hundred acres, with the track itself being 3-4 miles in length.

they will be building the track from the ground up but they are not yet saying where it will be. they said it will be designed by Hermann Tilke.

That area is open land about 2 miles south east of the Airport. I did a search on this and couldn't find anything to back it up, but I thought I'd throw it out there as food for thought.
Looks like I called it 2 months ago but the site has been offically released.

I've seen both; driven HHR. HHR has more elevation changes and is somewhat more technical (in my novice opinion). I stopped by the driveway track one day, and one of the owners drove me around the long circuit in a golf cart. Very nice guy. Driveway has fewer elevation changes, but has much more tree cover around the track. In the long stretch, you almost feel like your on the Nürburgring- with all the tall pines flanking the road. The total length seem comparable between the two.

FWIW, HHR has more of a county club feel, while Driveway seems to have more days dedicated to their revenue generating endeavors. For example, they do special courses for military, police and other government agencies in need of a closed track.
