Anyone going to SEMA 2010 this year? I really want to go (as does everyone), I am trying to find a shop or some kind of affiliation to a shop in order to get entry. I used to go to CES all the time, but I never made it to one of the SEMA events. I have flight and everything taken care of, I only need some advise on entry. Some say they don't check if you go in person and some say they do. Also, I have read if you show up in person with a business card they will let you in as well.
If anyone has figured out the loop hole, I keep reading about that exist, let me know.

im trying to do the same. I went last year and in '07 with the university i attended but i graduated so now Im not sure how I will be able to go. Let me just say it is something that should be on your bucket list. I just got a job with an aftermarket company and I know they set up a booth but I doubt I will be able to go as im a newbie.

^ Marcus? I think if we talk to professor spaulding he can still let us go to SEMA as an alumni. I just don't know if it's too late to pay.

There is a SEMA online application you can fill out and they will send you your badge but it may require a federal ID for employment. I may try and see if I can work around that. I remember I called and talked to rep one year and they just told me to fill out the application and pay the fee ($80-100 i think) and they will send my badge. This was in '08 so not sure if it changed.

About 10y ago I used to do tradeshow's for a living. I would show up in kaki's and my work polo, hand them a business card, and tell them I was a vendor providing rental computer equipment. I never had an issue getting into any show, including CES 3y straight and AdultX 3y straight and E3 3y straight. I still have some old business cards that are from my old job somewhere too...
EDIT: If you go vedor route, play the part and show up 2 days in advance like you are actually doing setup :P
EDIT2: And my old company opened a Vegas office, so they are well known in Vegas as show vendors

Like low psi said. PRI show is the way to go. Don't get me wrong the cars at sema look good but seeing all the new racing parts is so much better.

Its cool to see all the racing parts but for the all around car guy theres nothing like SEMA.
SEMA--body kits, yea right man, the best car builders in the world represent at SEMA. Dont make me post pics. I mean damn man, at the '09 show the corvette ZR1 motor was being swapped into cars like it was a damn honda motor. I have never been to a PRI show but it is definitely a show i want to go check out

It only cost 25 bucks to get into SEMA as an atendee. If multiple people are wanting to go we could rent a van from CAPPS van rental, they seat around 8 to 10 comfortably. The cost would be about 50 bucks a person TOPS, prolly less. Or Southwest flys to Vegas as well for 182 bucks each way. Last option is we can load 4 peeps into EVOs and caravan out and make a trip outa it.
The hotel is the trick. However if you want to go the reservations have to be made now.
Post whos interested.
