New Evo Owner
New Evo Owner
I was at Don Herring today and the fellas had pretty good things to say about NTEC. Even the finance guy was skeptic until apparently there was a conversation with NTEC members regarding gay bingo? Either way, I'm glad to put another Evo on the North Texas streets and hopefully I can catch some of you at a meet in the future.
Cheers

Well I just found your thread out in the Newb section of EvoM (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...r-weekend.html). Congrats on the new WW 2010 Evo X GSR!! Kracka will be most pleased with your color choice and yes, Don Jr. and his staff are top notch around here.
If I may add my own 2 cents, given your "newb" status, you probably should have picked up that Cobb AP from Don Jr. I'm sure he would have given you a fair price and just so you know, Cobb's Stage1 flash will put you close to 300whp as opposed to the 240-250whp that is put down by the stock tune. Just something to consider!
Also, check out my thread:

I would encourage you to come out even if it's just for an hour. You could see Cobb's facility, talk to them, see Calvin tune my car, etc. It would probably do you a lot of good if you plan to use Cobb as your tuner.
Once again, welcome to NTEC!

there are other alternatives too, we offer tuning as well for half the price and you don't need to purchase an accessport.

Before you do any tuning you should come to a NTEC meet and see other peoples cars, ask questions and make your own decisions. Chris, our club president is very knowledgeable and helpful and prolly knows more about Evos than anyone else in the club. Hes at every NTEC meet and the Cobb first Thursdays.
Everyones approach to tuning thier Evo is slightly different. I personally found just talking to lots of people and learning was the most fun of all.

there are a lot of people that know an awful lot about evos in NTEC
to say chris knows more then anyone just means you haven't been to enough events (or the only events you go to are with chris). go to a track day some time, you'll find the people going to the track days are not your "average" NTECer.
E85 eh? I've been considering that as a potential fuel source since there's a Kroger gas station in Irving that sells it and it's about 5 miles from the house. I don't know how hard most E85 users drive their cars, but I've seen one too many posts about fuel pump failure and it's sort of turned me away for now. In the end, I gotta keep the Evo as a reliable DD car. Any of you on E85? Share some stories!
for reference, i've never seen a walbro failure in person. i have seen double pumper problems, but usually not related to a failing walbro. also note, some people complain about the whining from a walbro, which does not mean it failed. they are just noisey. listen to the fuel pump in my race car then you'll never complain about a noisey walbro again

i've tuned a hundred+ evos on e85. my own personal car ran E85, and my time attack car is on e85. Josh runs it in all 3 of his evos, and richard runs it in his too. you'll find many locals run it because its relatively easy to find. for those outside of DFW, its far less common, so most of them stick with 93.

I do hope you aren't talking about me. I never once said that there is no where to go in DFW for custom fabrication. I've personally had both AWDTuning and EvolutionDynamics do welding projects for me.
