Lesson learned this weekend, boost leaks kill power more than you think...I was having trouble with a rich afr problem, I kept leaning it out but it wouldnt go past 11.3 so with the help of a friend we came to the conclusion I had a boost leak....plus my 4th gear was knocking like crazy in the upper rpms because the turbo was working overtime trying to keep up with the leak and all it did was hurt the performance of my car and seemed any changes i made while tuning my car just got pissed off at me and i didnt know why.....boost leaks caused it all.
I worked on my car all day saturday getting t-bolts installed and then did a boost leak test. What I found was my vac. lines to my bov were leaking horribly bad. Luckily I ditched the crap rubber vac. hose which just sucks and installed some 4mm silicone hose (which is god sent)...Boost leak disapeared. I pressure tested to 27psi and it took 8 sec. to drop to 25 psi. According to my engineering friend if you drop 1psi per second your doing pretty good, well im at 4 sec. per psi so I was sold. So then I tested for max psi, I wanted to see if I would blow a charge pipe or blow anything so I ran it to 32psi and it wouldnt go any longer, stock bov wouldnt allow it
but no charge pipes leaked or blew off, thanks to T-bolt clamps, they are wonderful 
No way could you do that on the stock clamps, my friends IX leaked from the factory.....
I Finished the car and took it out, AFR went from 11:3ish to 11:8-12:1 which is where im looking for my afr to be, I was happy and the car pulls harder than it has in a looong time. Its amazing what you can find with a simple inexpensive test that actually gained me some hp? So if your having hp loss or unexplained knock issues or anything weird do a boost leak test before anything else and you would be amazed and what you may find......its so easy and cheap to do there is no excuse not to do it first before touching anything else

I am thinkin as well as most i think that a drive out and back on sunday for all the racing would be cool.
There will be atleast 1 camera car on the journey so we can gather more footage for our EVO DVD that is in the process of gathering footage for!!

hey do any of you guys have the pdf service manual for the evo ix?
i just had to wipe my laptop clean due to a nasty virus and lost everything on it.
i have the viii service manual still, but can't seem to track down the one of the ix.

Sorry buddy, i was looking for the same thing the other day. Not that i have a IX, but a guy i know had a question and for some reason i couldn't visualize something.
Oh and bvdawg13, i am the Silver evo that goes to RMU. I saw that in the one picture thread, that is if i am one of the few evos you're referring to that go to RMU.
Just for reference, there is EvoDan(blue), stefano (yellow), myself (silver) and i THINK that is it. Dan help me out if i am missing someone.
