they are very exspensive. the insurance might even kill you more than they payment.

besides. you're gonna have a very fast, very personalized ralliart. not a bad car to drive around for a few until you can get the evo you want. ;]

The car itself is not terribly costly. Esspecially with the 0% interest deals they offered.

I pay 336 a month payment and insurance is another 1000 or so a year. 28yo full coverage w/various discounts.

The costs to keep the car running are fairly high.

Summer and winter tires, new summer tires fairly often. Oil change materials run ~$30. 60-$70 at the dealer to have it done.

Not to mention the costs for parts if you buy a used one. Some are standard lancer fair, others aren't.

A good radar detector is also at least $300.

It doesn't hurt to make a decent amount of money to own one of these cars. Less anxiety, more enjoyment.

I barely could afford my evo. Well, I really should say, I can't afford my Evo. But I've made many sacrifices in order to own and modify my evo. I have in the upwards of $10K just in credit card debt from modding.

Anyhow, I got mine for about $29,000 out the door.
Threw $9,000 cash.
Traded $3,000.
Payments are like $370 a month for five years.
Insurance is $1,080 every six months. I'm only 23.

Most people would look at this and say, "you're crazy. You can't even afford a place to live and you own a $30,000 car?" I say, f--- em. It's worth it man if you think you can afford it. Just save up some money for the down payment. That's the key. And even if you leave it stock, it's still worth it. Especially the IX.

Or maybe you can buy my VIII after it gets fixed. I'm 100% serious, I'll give it to you fully modded for $26,000. Blue Book for private party sale is like $26,000. If you are even slightly interested in buying mine, let me know.

that is pretty good, right now i am paying 1600 every 6 months.

i am also holding my breath for my next insurance bill, i bet they are going to jack the prices straight through the roof because of my accident.

my weird neighbor's son has a a silver evo, i got into a conversation with him the other day about it (i try to avoid my neihbors like the plague, but sometimes you can only do so much). he was very adamant in telling me how much the car is to maintain. i had already looked into most of the costs of upkeep before buying it, and decided i would be ok with that, apperently his son did not. he gave me a 20 minute spiel on how his son is not going to have a christmas this year because he had to buy snow tires.

now, maybe i am just a *****, but i don't have much sympathy for him. if you run out and just buy an evo without looking into it, and then are appaled at the maintenence costs, that is your fault. especially since he apperently tracks his car regularly.

just looking at the wheels alone, you should know tires are going to cost you an arm and a leg. hell, tires are exspensive for regular cars in my opinion. then you get into low profile, high performance tires on larger wheels, well costs are going to add up.

to be honest though my evo is worth every cent i have spent and then some. i made the decision when i bought it, that if anything were to go wrong with my current job, that i would have no problem taking on a second job just to pay for the car (thankfully this hasn't been the case, but i am prepared if it does happen).

yeah, being on my parents insurance is giving me a nice break.

also, against her better judgement, my mom was nice enough to cosign for me so i was assured the 0% financing.

Still no freakin word on my evo's damage. I can't beleive it's taking like a week for a freakin estimate. Oh well, I'm about 90% sure I'm gonna be trading for the IX. I just don't want to deal with all the bs that the car is going to do after being wrecked.
