Ugh... totalled my Lancer.
Ugh... totalled my Lancer.
It's official from my insurance company - my Lancer is totalled. I'd rather not talk about how it happened - I know LancerAdam (I think that's your screen name anyway) knows what happened and I'd request you not mention it either. Rest assured, it was my own stupidity. I was having a little too much fun with my new tires/brakes/clutch - all the friction components replaced in the last month or so makes for a great ride.
See the link for pictures. I will say that I was in a safe place and no one was in any risk except myself. I broke my arm and have some road rash from my arm falling out my window. I started to lose control turning left really hard, tried to straighten out, and the car snapped back too fast to react, causing me to roll over to the driver's side - all the way back onto my tires. There's a big dent in the middle of where the roof started to crumple inside the driver's side A-pillar - that's about an inch deep and that's from my arm. Honestly, I'm lucky it's still attached, but it's just one break and it's healing fast. This happened about 2 weeks ago.

I'm not parting anything - I could barely get my stereo/amp out one handed, I wasn't going to try the rest. The car is already on its way to wherever else the insurance company wants to put it. I suppose if anyone's in the area looking for a Progress sway bar, engineerboy's rear tie bar, the RRM front strut bar, or the B&M short shifter, they should search junkyards in the area. Not to mention, RRM's street slotted rotors with only a few thousand miles on them, if that and nearly new Axxis Ultimates installed at the same time.
I'm out of Lancers for a bit. Was $3000 upside down on my loan still, so I've got to cut back on expenses anyway now. I'm looking at non-FWD wagons for my next ride and mid-late 90s Subaru Imprezas are at the top of the list in my price range.
I'll be back here from time to time and probably more often someday, so long as I can convince Mitsu to bring the Evo wagon to the states. I'd just about sell my house for one of them, if the wife didn't mind I guess... ;-)
Thanks for all the good times!

Glad to hear you are okay. I can't believe you rolled and your sunroof didn't break! Were you wearing your seatbelt? My bro in law just rolled his Legacy Wagon twice with his wife and kids in the car, when some old guy went into diabetic seizure and did a PIT manuever on them on R146. They would have died if it weren't for their seatbelts. But they survived with bad cuts and bruises. I think you need a lower profile car, like an Elise
Neil... Cars can be replaced. People can't. Happy to hear you're OK. (http://www.nasioc.com) for Subaru forum.. if you're looking for one.

The sunroof was open, so I imagine more protected and yes, I was wearing my I'm glad to hear all was well with your brother-in-law, MEVO. As for an Elise, I don't think I'd fit. I've seen them up close and I'm big enough that I'm very glad my head didn't hit the ground in this roll.
As for NASIOC, I'm sure I'll get in there eventually. Don't own a Subaru yet, though, so I've got time.

Hehe... I never really saw myself getting a Subaru. I'm sure they're great and all, and I suggest them to friends all the time, but for some reason I never saw me going that route. Then again, when it comes to non-FWD wagons of the 90s, they've nearly got the market covered.
