Gauging interest for 'Vishnu' Dyno Day in NE area
Gauging interest for 'Vishnu' Dyno Day in NE area
(* I opened up another thread in Vishnu forum in the vendor section. If you are interested, please sign up there. Thank you)
Hi, Guyz
I like to start a thread to have Shiv come over NE area to tune our cars.
We need about 8 to 10 ppl to make this happen. I am thinking of KTR performance (Ayer, MA) as for the place since they have a loading AWD dyno (Dynodynamics) there. Preliminary Pricing is $500 ~$600 for VIII's and $900~$1000 for IX'. If you are already a Vishnu customer, then you just have pay for re-tune and dyno time. Anyways, let's see if there is enough interest for this.
Please put your SN down on the list if you are interested. Thanks.

FWIW a few of us flew Shiv out in 2001-2002 to tune a handul of Impreza's that had been turbo'd. We signed up because we were getting ready to run the 2002 One Lap of America and there weren't too many tuners that were familiar with an Electromotive Tec-II setup. Not only were we very happy with our map from a power standpoint, but I learned a significant amount riding along with Shiv while we street tuned and watching what parameters he changed while he dyno tuned.

ktr a bit on the expensive side, i would try ESP in sterling mass http://www.enhancedstreetperformance.com/index.html if you go there or some where else were its a little less expensive id be intersted.
Dude the tuner for KTR FRANZE is supposed to be one of the best in the country. Miles ahead of others. He's the guy who trains the tuners. Try to get an appointment with him hes book righted up. Why mess with brining shiv out when you have a guy who tunes mazda challenge cup cars and porsches and on and on. I tried to get an app back in march and he was booked till may. WTF? If you have heard bad news about him please let me know because I was thinking of taking my car up to him at some point. The head of ECUTEC recomended him he knows that system in and out. j

Fitz - Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
gsrboi80 - I will ask Shiv about availability of Ecuflash service and let you guyz know soon.
AutobonEvo - Which dyno does ESP utilize? In my humble opinion, it's always better use a loading dyno (e.g. Dynodynamics, Mustang, etc.) to tune cars since a good loading dyno can hold a steady state load at any giving rpm allowing the tuner to adjust each cell in both the ignition and fuel map. During steady state test, you can see the power go up and down as you adjust the ignition map. That's the only way you can tell if you've optimzed the ignition and fueling for that cell. Just my .02. Plus, KTR charges $1000 for dyno rental for a whole day and they also offer lunches for us. So, if we can get enough participants, dyno fee per each person shouldn't be that high.
Mr. Snow- As anjapower said, Franz no longer works at KTR.
Anjapower - Again, I will post the info about availability for Ecuflash tune once I talk to Shiv. $600 is a preliminary pricing and it could be lower if we have enough interest to share some of common costs. $600 is surely a lot of money, but getting your car tuned by a good tuner at a proper facility is worthy of consideration.

If you can book it with KTR, that would rule since they have a Dyno Dynamics (and a wicked pimp shop).
That said, you'll get 10 times more response to this if you post it directly in the Vishnu forum instead of the NE forum, as dedicated XEDE customers spend most of their time there.

WOW! whats the breakdown on the 600? is it cheaper if all 10 get on their knees?
(I was thinking to "beg", and what were YOU thinking?
) I won't be able to do it. Got my tuner in GA (Dyno4mance)

FWIW I'm a huge fan of Franz's work. My Impreza was at KTR for the better part of three weeks getting worked on this year and Franz tuned it before he left. From an Electromotive Tec-II standpoint, I'm in a bind with Franz no longer working at KTR. With him moving on in his career, we're certainly losing one hell of a good resource no matter how you spin it.
Obviously there are other local choices, but if Franz is out of town, and the opportunity to be tuned by Shiv presents itself, I feel that's a great route to pursue.

AutobonEvo,
Please ignore my prior post. For some reasons, I just assumed that ESP has a dynojet. My bad... So, ESP should be a perfect alternative location. Do you how much they charge for a dyno day? Thanks.
