Wow. I've been gone for a while. Recently been hanging out at Seekonk Walmart. So far I've seen the girl with the wingless WW Evo VIII. She's come by a couple times but I forgot her EvoM name. Anyways, everyone is welcome to come. We're there just about every night around 9:30-10:00 PM.
Oh my god...why did I ever explain the whole world ending in 2012 thing today to my fiance? She had never heard about this whole "theory" until today....now I have had to watch her be a wreck about..to now she just won't shut the hell up about it...
Hey Dave,
PS- I still love the D40X...
This is on 116 out in North Western Ma, awesome road...

I still suck at manual shooting, can't figure it out for the life of me. Then again I spend to much time on the bike riding instead of practicing.

AN ITALIAN BOY'S CONFESSION
'Bless me Father, for I have sinned.
I have been with a loose girl'.
The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano ?'
'Yes, Father, it is.'
'And who was the girl you were with?'
'I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation'.
"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later
so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?'
'I cannot say.'
'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?'
'I'll never tell.'
'Was it Nina Capelli?'
'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.'
'Was it Cathy Piriano?'
'My lips are sealed.'
'Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?'
'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.'
The priest sighs in frustration.
'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that.
But you've sinned and have to atone.
You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months.
Now you go and behave yourself.'
Joey walks back to his pew,
and his friend Franco slides over and whispers,
'What'd you get?'
'Four months vacation and five good leads.'

Your pics look good. I almost never shoot full-manual...i typically pick the aperture (A) or shutter speed (S) that I know I'll need and let the camera do the rest. Here's what you can do to learn manual shooting...
For (A)perture mode...
-Use a low value (F/3.5) to allow a lot of light into the camera. A low F-stop also shortens depth of field, objects in front of, or behind, the in-focus subject will be blurred...
-Use a high value (F/20) to allow very little light into the camera while preserving a very long depth of field and sharp image clarity.
Be aware, your shutter speed should be fast enough so that your image is not blurred. One rule of thumb is that your shutter should always be equal or faster than the reciprocal of your focal length (i.e., if you are zoomed to 60mm, shutter should be 1/60 or faster)...but there are caveats there as well...some even use the above rule doubled... aka 60mm = 1/125 shutter... you'll have to go through some trial and error.
For general pics with excellent sharpness, I like F/8 or F/11.
If I ever have some free time, i can give you a quick few pointers....
let me know about the gauges.
