WEST NYACK — An emergency medical worker from Florida lost her right arm when the ambulance she was riding in crashed into a parked truck on Route 59 near the Palisades Center Mall yesterday morning.
Bonnie Ames, 20, had to be extricated from the ambulance. She was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and underwent surgery, said Raymond Florida, director of Rockland Paramedic Services. “She lost her right arm,” Florida said last night. “She’s stable, but they’re keeping a close eye on her and might put her back in surgery.”
The ambulance driver, Scott Millard, 19, suffered a head injury and was also sent to Westchester. He was kept overnight for observation.
Clarkstown police Sgt. Harry Baumann said the accident is still under investigation.
