Anyone have any info on this car?

My friend's looking to buy a new car and sent me this Evo:

http://www.apolloautosales.com/used_...a87aae5&bhcp=1

Price and miles seem ok. Was this anyone's or do you know the prior owner? Any info would be appreciated. The only mods I can see are slotted rotors (and maybe exhaust). It looks like it's on stock suspension and I don't see any engine mods. Anything my eyes are missing? I see some things like splash guard appears to be off, hood vent off, UK badge, pedals, etc. but nothing big. Any help appreciated.

short antenna, SS exhaust heat shield, the exhaust is probably stock

but, i notice the BOV recirc hose is really long...hint that it had aftermarket parts? maybe.
unless the evo 8 and 9s have a slightly different layout, there should be a metal-type hose that the bov recirc host attatches to around the front right corner of the head.

those pedals should be stock, my rs came with those from the factory. The heat shield on the exhaust manifold was possibly removed , looks like its scratched around the bolt.

Next time you see the car check for stripped or over tightened nuts, bolts and screws anywhere, especially the engine bay. They should be easy to spot.

If you're looking for an unmolested Evo... I'd keep looking.

the pedals aren't aftermarket. they're optional from mitsu.

the engine bay looks terrible. my '05's bay looks nothing like that and i never clean it. airbox snorkel is missing, window tint and that strip on the top of the windshield are not original.

t-bolt clamps are probably a sign that it was once running high boost and probably put back to stock with the clamps re-used.

the last pic looks like all 3 ACD lights are lit/blinking. the ACD system is likely not working/totally gone/potentially expensive to fix. also, 1k rpm idle is a little high for a stock evo. they should idle around 900/950 unless still warming up.

Thanks. My '04 has almost 57k on her and the engine bay looks much better as well, and I don't clean it either.

Finding an unmolested Evo is not easy....

i have tbolt clamps as well...only thing i changed..

IMO...u need to really asses the car, pics wont cut it!

get on ur back and lie down under the car, this will give a good indication of wear and tear.

test drive the bloody car!!!

listen for T-Case whine.

change the gears and feel for problems..

get the peron's maintenance shedule including receipts.

rev the car to red line and check for the colour of smoke coming out from the exhausst (white, blue or black)

damn i can go on and on!

from the pics (might be different in reality) the paint looks a little too flawless evo s usually get a lot of rock chips and other blemishes, check for signs of repaint, if you can have acces to paint thickness gauge it could help, if it reads really high and varies a lot, the car was repainted, check for body panel gap, hidden painted part (like where the front fenders attached to the body) check if the surface feels rough (repaint signs)
