Weekend Drive on tight twisty roads
Ok. Here's the deal. This Saturday we meet between 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mobil gas station on the Hutchinson River Parkway. It is on or about exit 26 in Harrison NY. It is 15 minutes north of the Bronx. For you Connecticut guys it's the Merrit Parkway but in New York. The roads: They are winding double yellow roads with speed limits ranging from 35-50 mph. They are very technical and tight and wind through 3 towns and go into Connecticut. The drive can stretch to two hours depending on how much you can handle. It seems most people are not sure so I'm expecting maybe only two or three people show up along with my regulars which is good. We don't want a bunch up and leave trashed Evos in front of Mel Gibson's house =( Anyways, I'm thinking the later the better to avoid any traffic. These are quiet roads with little traffic but it's always better to go later than earlier. I usually set 10 second intervals between cars but i'll discuss that when people actually show up. Also, some of you guys mentioned briniging friends with rear wheel drive. If they know what they are doing fine. They just have to be extra careful with the off camber turns which are very tricky even with our cars. Also, avoid passengers, they'll hurl in your car after 10 minutes. For those of you that are 100% in, PM me so I can give you my cell. Also, let me know if saturday or sunday is best and i'll make the final decision tomorrow.
Ok, it seems like a Sunday is the better day for most people so I will move it to Sunday at 6:00pm. Just to confirm, from NYC take the Hutchinson River Parkway north to around exit 25. You will see a Mobil Gas Station on your left. It is a center isle station so You can't miss it. If you see the exit for I287 then you passed it. The gas station is about 20 minutes from the Whitestone Bridge.
I've pmed everyone that was interested my cell phone. If I haven't, pm me and i'll send it. I've done trackdays and autox's. but these roads truly show what your Evo can do. It should be a blast.

Ok, It seemed like everyone had a blast. So much so that we didn't even finish the whole route because of guys still shaken from what we did. I'm glad everyone came. Granted having 9 cars flying through dark twisting B roads was a little dangerous but we pulled it off. Hats off to Simon, that guy can drive. If you guys want to do this again. Let me know.
Wadda RUSH!!!!! If you guys think you are good drivers on the road, you have to test yourself out with this canyon run. Test your fear, especially when you don't know waht to expect on every turn.
I gotta admit that Simon is one HEL OF A DRIVER. Prom, you shoulda seen him on his drive back home.

The fall foilage will be very pretty up there soon if you're into that stuff. How does that sound?
