MA guys i need some advice

so i went to court fought a speeding and altered exhaust ticket lost and apealed it a second time....now the judge is he is giving me a month to put a stock exhaust on and he will drop all charges...i have a HKS catback, perrin HFC, and Megan DP...should i change my catback to stock and then change it back to my HKS after he drops the charges...what would happen if i get pulled over again for loud exhaust after he drops the charges on that one?

I think it would only effect you if you ended up in front of the same judge again. (i,.e) No mercy, just fine/moving violation. He is pretty much doing you a favor by not giving you a moving violation. If you ended up in front of a different judge, im sure you could convince him the same way you did this one to cut you a break. My advice isnt really from a Mass resident since I just moved here. Just a general opinion. I'd suggest gathering more.

Brian- it all depends on what the terms of your plea/dismissal are. He may give you a conditional dismissal where the charges only drop if you are violation-free for a year. You could potentially move to a stealth cat-back and take less risk of another pull-over or you could just take your chances. You'll really have to play it by ear, pending the terms of the dismissal.

Good luck, buddy! I'm glad you stuck with the fight...

dam that sucks... the same thing happened to me... i got a ticket for an "illegal" exhaust..... previously i got a warning/fix it ticket for a loud exhaust... i went to the CT DMV... and they passed it as a "legal" exhaust and claim it was within the decible limit....

i get pulled over by a cop one day... he tells me my exhaust is too loud... i tell him ( and show him my documents from DMV claiming im legal ) cop still gives me a ticket... and claims that i put my stock exhaust on, got tested and put my loud exhaust back on...

So i go back to the friggen DMV.. and go look... this cop gave me a ticket claiming i did this and that with my exhaust and i need proof that THIS aftermarket exhaust is LEGAL...

so now i got proof that my aftermarket exhaust is legal

Like to see what the judge has to say about this (still awaiting my court date haha)

Dave you have a tanabe catback right??? how do you like it and is it quiet???....and the judge did say he would drop all charges as long as i put a factory exhaust back on...he even said if i fix it before the court date i could drive to the statie station and show the officer that pulled me over...im leaning more towards selling my HKS and getting something a little bit quieter

I really like the Tanabe a lot, yes. It's the Medalion Touring and I think it looks and sounds subdued enough to limit a lot of the attention you might get with a TurboXS or HKS exhaust. It's not cop-proof, though...one of my buddies over here that has one got pulled over by a statie as he left a parking lot...but I do think that he'll be able to fight it and win.

I did get rid of my TurboXS which I loved so much because of getting pulled over and since I switched to the tanabe *knocks wood* I haven't had an issue...
