The driver had some relatively minor leg and foot injuries, and he had a passenger who had several broken ribs that resulted in a punctured lung. The driver of the white Saturn Ion unfortunately passed away later the day of the crash. Neither my girlfriend or myself are very close with the driver of the evo, but still I would ask that you keep all three people involved and their families in your prayers.

This is all terrible news... no one should forget that you are driving a weapon that can take your life as well as others.

Was there racing or speeding involved?

I haven't heard for sure yet. My girlfriend is visiting him in the hospital today so I should find out later what he has to say.

I'm sure that everyone here who drives a fast car has at least once thought about or actually challenged someone on the street. As SPANKED said, you need to keep your ego in check and keep in mind all the stories like this that can result from just a split second of stupidity. It's much more fun to let loose on the track anyways, it's a shame there aren't more options out on LI.

how's the driver? anyone else in the car?
This is true, but if a wrecked evo ever wound up in front of my high school b4 prom i'd probably go parts picking that same night =P.

The article says he sustained some injuries but he'll be alright.

I knew the kid who was the driver and I knew the passanger...it was a bad situation that left the other killed and other in critical condition...sucks to see this happen to people you know but this is a lesson for people who think these cars are toys.

ooo and to answer everyones questions he was speeding...he was doing 100 down the road and went over rail road tracks and lost control swerving into on comming traffic...not a phone call you like hearing first thing in the morrning but again something we all need to think about before we do a pull on a busy highway.
