As far as drag racing being less expensive than Autox, I think I will have to disagree. 1 bad launch of the car and bang, no more clutch, differential or some other tranny/driveline failure. Worse that can happen at an autox is some tire and brake wear, oh and a couple of cone marks. Trust me, they all buff out. The only warning I would say is in the extreme cold, cones tend to be a little stiffer than normal.

There are also Autox instructors at every event, so we are Newb friendly.
So about cone scuffs. I'm a paint freak, so if I hit some cones will I really be able to buff them off? What do you do to remove the marks?

As for drag racing, I'd have to say that drag racing just doesn't appeal to me, and that having tried a few launches myself, I know that it can't possibly be good for the car.

Just goto the Autox with a fresh coat of wax (I rarely do this but..) and you will be fine. After the Autox just wash your car. You should be good to go. There is the small chance of damaging something (like your front lip) but I think it would be the same as if you were just driving the car around town.
If you are that worried, why not come out and see whats going on and decide for yourself. You have a great car for Autox, I say use it. All motor sports assume some amount of risk to car, Autox is one of the lowest risk levels to cars in motorsports IMHO.
