Right now i'm in Hackettstown going to college. I would love to get this installed asap!!! Or if someone could give me some instructions on installing it, and how long it will take? also do i need a lift or anythign liek that?

You will need to lift your car up with jackstands. It's basically bolts that need to be taken off and put back on. Use a lot of WD40 on the headbolts and warm up your car slightly to get them to come off. Take caution though, cause breaking them (head bolts) off is such pita to fix.

You may wanna let the WD40 soak for a bit, maybe do some light tapping with a hammer (obviously you don't wanna damage anything or disfigure the bolts). Heating may be an option as well if nothing else works. I hear some are hard to remove. You may find more info in parts review or something.

i could help ya.. but you'd have to drive to greenwich ct.. heh

BTW: you will probably want to buy a new header gasket (i think mitsu calls it exhaust manafold gasket) its like 20 bux or sumthin.. better off replacing it then having problems with it leaking in the future.

i'm going home tommorrow to see if my girl's dad can do it since he is a mechanic, but he only has 1-2 hours free...

I am mechanically retarded (ask Boe) and I think I could to it in about 45 minutes.

You will need a socket for a 12 MM 14 MM and i think 1 more (the large bolts underneath to remove the exhaust and mounting bolt).

You will need a torque wrench so you dont over tighten the header back on and some brains to figure out how to get the bolt on the far left out.

If he is a mechanic he can do it pretty quick. easy install i think.

Then again that was the RRM one so the rpw might be a tad different.

The nut on the far left is a pain, but all you need is an open end wrench and some patience. you get 1/8 of a turn and flip the wrench. No torque wrench, just don't kill the bolts that connect to the head. took me 30 minutes. if you have no experience, 2 hours tops.

thanks for all the information. My girl's dad said he can do it, he said it will take longer to get the car up on stands then to do the install itself. He is going to do it on thursday!!! I cant wait!!!

I wanna install the header asap!!! and i have it scheduled for today, so shoudl i risk it and install it and all. But my main concern is has anyone riped the gasket?

the gasket is metal....not easy to tear it. I say intall it, then check for leaks. IF you have leaks then replace it. Chances are it will be fine. (Famous last words)

If its worth doing right its worth doing the first time....

Seriously man, just wait until you can get a new gasket. I mean it is feasible that you can get the old manifold off without damaging the gasket, but if you work on cars long enough youll learn Murphys Law.....ANYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG WILL!

I mean what if you rip the gasket, you wont have one to replace it with. Not using a gasket would not be a bright idea, either. I saw wait, but either way update us once its on the car, good luck!

It's not that he'll rip the gasket, so much as deform or bend it. The gasket is made of stamped steel and is pretty thin. I would recommend waiting for a new gasket John, but if things go smoothly you can get away without it.
