New Member: NH/MA area

Hello everyone, I am just joining the forums as I just bought an evo 8.

Basically, I just want to undo all of the stuff the person before me did to it visually, and work from there. I am very excited, I have had my eye on these cars for a while now.

Are there a lot of members in the new england area?

The hood has got to go though...

Hood and Tein springs have to go.

Some in NH/MA.

What do you suggest for coilovers, so i can ditch the tiens? I have heard they do wonders to the stock struts.. which is probably why the car is bouncy.

I do not recommend coilovers out of the gate. I recommend searching and reading in the Wheel and Tire forum.

If bouncy, you have a blown strut (which is what those Teins do).

Nashua here also...not much for meets in this area. Have organized a couple in the past but the interest was small. Maybe I will see you around sometime and have fun with the car. As stated above blown strut. Is this your DD and going to see winter? If so I would recommend coilovers but do your homework. The way Nashua plows you don't want to be too low

So, driven it ~ 200 miles now.. heard some whining in the drivetrain so i checked the transmission & transfer case fluid. Transmission was a little low, but the transfer case a blob of crap came out. Ordered another transfer case off of someone on here, that was quick huh? car has 120k miles on it and i dont think those fluids have ever been changed

I got a full set of polyurethane suspension bushings, going to start on that project this weekend... anyone have any experience with the energy suspension master bushing kit?

fyi, those master bushing kit is a disaster. i got the kit for cheap, labor was a *****. paid a shop to do the work for ~2gs. I think in order to install those, you have to press the bushings, needs some welding/cutting(due to our ****ty weather here), etc, etc. first i dont know how to do all those, plus even i knew how to do them, i wouldnt do it. for 20hrs? meh, screw that. other than that, the kit is the ****! car drives like a brand new one. if you want to know where i got em done, pm me. also that kit doesnt come with rear sway bar bushings, so be aware of that. thats all. oh, btw Boston here.

I have a press, and a lift. I did it for my civic dd, and it was a pain, I am sure this will take me a while haha. I am going to do the rear all day today, then tomorrow do the front. (that's what she said)

It did not make much of a difference there because the suspension is all squishy in those cars, but I am glad to hear it makes a difference in the evo. My rear control arms, i can grab them and move them all over the place haha.
