Hey all,

For those who don't want to ck the other thread:

Got a ticket for speeding. Cop said my exhaust was illegal. Ticket says $50 for "altered exhaust". It's a Bushur axle-back muffler. How can this possibly be illegal, hehe??

Just looking for any legal advice to contest this ticket...

Thanks,

This is very simple. When you go to fight the ticket, inform the majistrate that the exaust was on your car during inspection. Tell them that the car passed with no trouble, and that there was no indication by the inspector that there was an issue with the exaust. This violation was designed to give bikers a hard time when they hollowed out the baffles in they're exaust systems to make said exaust obnoxously loud. I've fought tickets like these before and have never had any trouble getting them overturned.

you tell them it is stock.... it is a brand new car the judge will not belive that BS about inspection.... because i doubt anyone has gone through it yet...being the car is brand new.......... just claim it is stock and take pics with you to show that it is.... case dismissed

well the court has a case though...if you talk to any police officer, any part you put on your car is known aftermarket, anything from an air freshener to an exhaust, if the cop is really a *****, you might get a ticket...but altered exhaust is if the exhaust was really loud, did you remove the silencer on the exhaust system, or is it still there.....

Don't blatantly lie, alittle white one will do. There is nothing wrong with having an aftermarket silencer on your car just as long as it doesn't fit into the hash and objectional noise category.
