Nelsons Ledges Road Coruse

OK guys this past summer 2003 my dad and myself took our cars to what Nelsons Ledges RC calls FUNdayz.

what this is........

You pay $100 to run your car around the rack with other cars.
Track opens at 9am for registration. 10am you start driving ends around 4 pm

THIS IS NOT A RACE this is for you to push your car to the limits on a close 2 mile very fast track.

There is no class time needed when I went I just asked one of the guys that was experiences to ride with me he did and gave me a quick lesson on how to drive on the track and how to take the turns... trust me its not like driving on a two lane road at all... you have to remember you have the entire track to run through the turn.. But enough about that more info

I do not know the 2004 schedule there is a web site with the 2003 FUNdayz listed but it might be updated some time this Feb. or march http://www.fastone.com/ the site is hosted by Fasttrax Motorcycle Performance Riding Schools. Just look for the FUNdayz link or click on NLRC Calendar. It’s all 2003 stuff but if you are interested check it out.
http://www.fastone.com/Nelson99/dayz02.html is the FUNdayz link with the info.. I read through I but i did not need to go to a class like I said I just asked one of the more experienced drivers there if he would ride with me and he was more then willing to help me out.

Things you will need to bring:

1 Helmet (must be SNell approved motorcycle is ok)
2 Long sleeve shirt
3 Light shoes rubber soles (sneakers are fine)
4 Check your car VERY GOOD for low fluids top them off before you go out on the track.
5 I added a half a bit more oil than you should but with the high speed turns you don’t want oil starvation so just go a little bit above the max line on the dipstick
6 Also I would put 93 octane gas or higher if you can get it

Things you don’t need to bring but are a good idea:

1 Air pump
2 Food
3 Drinks
4 Any fluids for that car/ extra gas can you might run out if you get a lot of track time.
5 Also clean your windshield you will want to see where you are going
6 Gloves help if it’s cold (you have to ride with the window down)
7 Just like any autocross event you will want to take anything you can out of the car I took my change thingy out as well you don’t want change bouncing around when you’re driving.

If you have any questions you can ask. Also it would be good to maybe get a big group to gather to do this.

When I was there a few Porsches 911s new and old, BMWs M3, Ford Focus SVT, Mercedes SLK convertible guy hit the tire wall with it, Mitsu Eclipse AWD, and new V6 you will see just about anything and everything. So bring um if you got um.

If anyone is planing on going PM me and I will try to make it up to PA/OH and run the same weekend.

Sure am! im not a member of any of the subaru forums tho. It will be good to see mix of all kinds of cars.. I know nelsons didn’t advertise very well or at all. I really like the track I have been going to this place since I was 7 and the 24hr race was going on out there but the track has went down hill for the past few years. There making a good come back and trying to raises money so they can make repairs to it and the track, is bumpy but its still fast. So if they get a lot of people out there for the FunDaz then they can use that to make some of the fixes.

Hmm, I might have to try and make it to one of those. I have many hundreds of laps around that track on 2 wheels, it would be fun to try it on 4. How many cars are usually there? Is Bob still running FasTrax?
