Rusted Brakes.

Hello everyone, So it's been raining the past two days in the area where I live and my brakes have been rusting up a bit. I went to autozone and grabbed a bottle of brake cleaners and went over the brakes with a rag but I was wondering is there other ways you can go about this and keep your brakes looking new? Any products that you guys suggest that might be better?

Like on the surface of the rotor?

If so the first time you hit the brakes it'll be gone

Garage your car :P Otherwise there is no way to stop this from happening, unless you call Ghost Squad Garage and have them powdercoat the rotors when you first buy them.

Yeah it's just the surface of the rotor nothing in depth. I got a good portion of the rust off with brake cleaners and a rag. Unfortunately I don't have a garage but I ordered a really good car cover though! Hopefully that will do it!

If you ever wash your car, the rotors will rust then, too. It's futile to keep cleaning them off. Just go take a quick drive and it'll be gone. And if you're really that crazy about them being rust free, message me and I will hook you up with GSG powdercoated rotors that will never rust.

^The powder doesn't get scraped off where the pad contacts the rotor? OP the car cover will not stop oxidation of the rotor. Even in a garage if you drive in the rain and pull into dry garage the will still rust. You can pull brakes apart take rotors off the car tape the contact surface off and paint all the non contact areas. It will look good and only the contact area will have some rust until you drive a little bit and all the oxidation on the rotor surface will be gone.

^No, the powdercoating has been proven to last 80k+ miles under daily driving. Unfortunately the company who did my VW brakes is no longer in business. They were in CA and named Ghost Squad Garage...I can't find them anymore, which stinks, cause those brakes were PHENOMENAL.
