this thread is dead.

had a good day at thompson yesterday, got down into the 1:26's. rode in jordans car and realized my car sucks, dont understand how he is like 3-4x the braking power i do on the same tires.

anybody ever experience pad fade on dtc60's? or anybody ever notice less heat tolerance when getting low on material?

had a slight braking issue and had to take the turn 1 runoff, pedal was a little long but felt appropriate for the wear, in no way felt soft. had one hard braking zone go long so i thought something was up, started braking at the 6 instead of the 4 and i had brakes, but it just didnt want to stop and then i must have locked up because it sorta felt like abs ticked on and chirped the tires a few times. of course this happened with one of the instructors behind me (jake? drives a blue vette with red mirrors)

Damn. Your car should be runing in the teens. It's not the car bro. Brake pads will have less heat resistant when material gets low, its physic son. You probably ridding your brakes. Dtc60 shouldn't fade on street tires.

no i shouldnt be in the teens foo, still time to find tho. id be happy with 24's on street tires. TT3 record is only a 21. supposedly joe unofficially went 1:10 in the kaizen car

1st time the brakes have ever not felt strong, no idea why definitely wasnt riding them although that track doesnt give them a ton of time to cool off. just dont understand how jordans car feels to generate SO much more force than i can.

The Blue Vette with red tape is Brett --- he was moving pretty good. I'm on RB rotors all around; RB 970 front pads and just put on ST43 rear pads. Castrol SRF fluid. RB SS pistons and x-over tube and silicone pieces. I'm very pleased with this brake setup; the car decelerates as fast as the tires will allow.
You missed a crazy Sunday. The GTS4 Ratched Head M3, almost completed his first lap on a charity drive, but fell short after putting the car in the wall after cresting the up hill. Way to drive 7/10 with a passenger!

damn so 3 cars in the wall in two days, not good. you just told me you dont get on here anymore.

maybe i need to move up to a better rear pad. i have the rb stainless pistons/hi temp seals in the front calipers with air ducts, duralast blanks, dtc 60's in the front stoptech streets in the rear because i liked the balance and the rears never seemed to do a hell of a lot anyway. i have a set of rb slotted rotors sitting around but i think they need to be skimmed before i try to use them again.

I took out an intermediate student in a stock Jetta and had him doing some Foren-worthy drifting in which we were clipping the apex cones with the front inside wheel and we were black flagged for scaring a corner worker. Foren would be proud.
Also got to ride in a car with R7's. Those things grip for days. My car was screaming around turns; the e46 with R7's didn't make a peep. UDT maybe?

Nate, if you on street tires, there's no way in hell you need more than dtc60. Adjust your braking son.

WAT?

That TT3 record in not a good representation at all. When TT3 is the slowest time of all (even slower than TTD), you know something is out of whack. It should be a 14.x, basically what Joe was running in U. Only reason Joe was not in TT3 was because he was going for tires, but the TTU record was set be a TT3 car.

and you should not be fading DTC60's. Its your braking technique that's flawed, not the pads.
