Moving to Portland from Indianapolis, have questions

Hey everyone, I'm currently in Indianapolis and will be moving out to Portland sometime around April-June. I have only made break and handling changes to the car except for a cai. Indiana has no emission regulations.. well.. I guess we do but they are never enforced and no one is required to go to the shop to check. I was wondering what some of the overall differences are that are out there, general and specific information is welcome. How often do I need to go, are the fines for getting caught breaking them steep, good track locations (Rally prefered), what things will get you busted on the road and in the shop when you have to get your car checked, etc. Any and all information is appriciated and if you want to hang out me and my friend will be in PDX from February 10th to the 13th hanging out with people from Burning Man, looking at houses and jobs etc. Hope to see some of you out there and contact info is below.

You'll like Portland, and soon welcome. I'll give you some general info. We do have emissions, you are required to go through it every 3 years. I can't recall the exact dollar amount to go through emissions and get your tags but I do know it isn't expensive at all. As far as getting caught for emissions violations (catless) I hear the fines are pretty steep, I have a friend who runs a test pipe and hasn't had any problems with the law about it...yet.

We have a great track here at Portland International Raceway starting in March they have the Drag strip open to the public every Friday and Saturday nights. You'll have to search around their website to find when they have AutoX days. As far as rallying they do have that here in Oregon. I know a guy that does it out in Southern and Eastern Oregon. Him and a bunch of guys do it often. If you want I can give you his email and you get info from him.

As far as getting busted in the shop, I'm guessing your talking about modding, I've had no problems with my dealership at all and they are aware of all my mods. As far as getting busted on the street...just don't draw any attention to yourself and you'll be fine. If you have any other questions just ask away.

^ yeah i would check out the run on the morning of the 13th it would be cool to meet. as far as emissions laws, i live in a small coastal town about 80 miles outside of portland and we dont have any sort of DEQ check. i never changed my license when i did live in the portland area, so it still said i lived at the coast, and never had anything checked.
