i hate the local mitsu dealer here

So I went in today to see if they finally knew about the stock of Evo's they are getting .. 3 total, 1 red, 1 black, 1 yellow ... and actually had VIN##'s. They tell me the cars should be on lot BEFORE march 1st .. (doubt that happens) at the latest. So thats good news I guess ...

Then .. i ask him about trading my OZ in for the Evo (We had discussed this earlier and it was stated that it wouldn't be a problem .. no down needed as I bought my oz like a month ago).
NOW the ***ers change their story. Now, they want a "significant $$ amount down" on the Evo, just because I'm trading my OZ in for it. If i wasn't trading in ... no down. I ask .. what, like a grand .. two? He's like ... more like 5-6k ... you should have seen my face .. totally a "WTF!" look comes over me ... not happy AT ALL.

AND - previously they told me they WOULD NOT be pre-selling the evos. This was from the floor manager ... he told me "on arrival date, it will be first come, first serve" ... and now when I went in they are bragging to me about how they just pre-sold one .. WAIT A MINUTE, WTF! ANd .. they sold the red one, which was the one they supposibly were going to 'ear-mark' for me ... the asshats.

Now I'm pissed. I may just say *** it and not get an Evo for a while .. (or atleast from this dealer) and wait till summer ... then I'll have some more cash and can do something. This means I can put my stereo equip in the OZ .. but I wanted an EVO. DAMIT!

What do you guys think of this? Sound typical of a car dealer? Im posting here to share with ya NW guys .. not the PreEvo forum ...

It was the same when the WRX came out. Now you can't throw a rock at a Subie Dealer and not hit one (ok, don't throw rocks at Subie dealers, but you know what I mean; I drive past Carter Subie all the time and you can have your choice of color and body style).
But yeah, when I asked about it a couple of years ago they didn't even know the WRX was coming out. Then they wanted $10k over sticker. Um... no.
Just wait a while. If you HAVE to have you EVO sock the money away in an interest bearing account. Forget about it for a while. If you still want one next year when they come out again you not only have your OZ to trade but that money that you put away and forgot about. Plus you'll probably be able to get one for sticker or under. The Sti will be out, maybe you'll want one of those? Maybe you'll have driven an EVO, decided it's not really the car for you (I know it'd just get me into BIG trouble, I can hardly avoid speeding and driving like a maniac in Artemis as it is). Maybe you'll decide to take the money and buy a turbo, etc and make a sleeper.
Whatever you do be sure it's what you REALLY want and that you're not stretching yourself too thin.

Yeah i have to agree that most dealers suck ***. you just gotta go in there prepared with all the paperwork and ect. hell I just bought a 02 ford escape last year that was on lot for 26 and got it for 21 after factory rebates. It just pays to do your homework and give , them, the run around. . i myself wouldnt even bother talking to the dealers about the cars unless you are serious and ready to buy cuz most will just fill you in with BS. just my 2 cents.

I had the consumer reports in my hand for proof of what the car was actually worth and they still tried rippin me off 4 thousand...I dont think I will ever buy a brand new car again...it basically costed me like 5 grand just to drive it off the damn lot. So no more, no more. Ill wait a year till there is a used one.

And you get the "privledge" of being screwed in the *** every month, without benefit of lube, only IF you qualify for a loan that big. My bank almost wouldn't loan me the money for Artemis because of the dealer's markup- at least that's what they told me
