Anyone else had this happen?

So I drop off the EVO at the shop(to remain nameless as I am still deciding whether to go back there) i clear the trip Odometer and leave it for the day. I was having an oil change, Alignment and trans fluid change.

I get the car back and my sweatshirt that was on the seat in the back was on the floor and the back seat arm rest thingy was down. and my trip Odometer said 17 miles. I know 17 miles isn't a big deal but I am a little pissed. Someone took it out and the other guys that work there for a little joy ride.

Anyone else think this is wrong?

Yep. I had it happen at Delon Mitsubishi. The service manager and I had some words about it too. Now, I run a valet map in my XEDE that won't allow the driver to exceed 3000rpm.

Same thing happened to me at Big Two Mitsubishi in Mesa. 9 miles on my car during an oil change, and the boost gauge memory said they hit peak boost. I no longer take my car there for service.

I would be very upset. You should just straight up tell them they had no right to take your car out and put 17 miles on it. NO REASON TO! You have every right to be upset. That makes me mad and it isn't even me that it happened to! That is just down-right wrong.

I would be all jacked up if that was my Evo! That is why I always record the miles on my car and reset the trip meter when I leave it in somebody else's hands.

Its better to stick a post-it note on the instrument cluster with the mileage written on it. If the person is smart they will just reset your trip odometer. And it'll let them know your watching the mileage.

MY GOD! id be pissed!!!!!!! for those 17 miles were probably the hardest your car has ever been driven... when i worked for honda... the s2000 had just came out, everytime someone brought one in for work the techs would go take it out for a joy ride... until finally someone wrecked one going 85mph in a 45.. and almost died..
