the OP is from WA, the plate law is different from state to state ( I moved here from Philly, in Philly we didn't even have a front plate, let alone require one )

it sucked, when I shipped my car ( 1996 sebring JXI ) it didn't even have holes drilled in the bumper for a front plate, I kept it on my dash facing the window- vette style

I think this is one of those laws... where if the cop needs a few tickets to meet his quota.... then he will start handing tickets for piddily little crap...

I had my ES for about 2 years drove all the way to ohio and back and within those 2 years time I got pulled over 5 times all in washington and once in illinois(sp?) never once got sighted for not having a front plate... until one day I was going through the gate at Mcchord and the guard asked me where it was... I told him I had to order a special bracket... and he was like oh...and let me be!

for the 2+ years I've had my car, I have only had the front plate on for maybe 3 months. never got warnings and/or citations for it, and I did get pulled over in that time. Do a lot of driving over the river in WA too

I've been pulled over almost thirty times (most in Corvallis) for this violation but only ticketed once. Had it in the window then. Cop didn't show up, thrown out. Now that I've been back in Portland for just over a year, I haven't been pulled over for it once. Course, my front plate is on the workbench in my garage and has been there since they came in. It is the law, but I refuse to obey this one.
