Once again, I know dealerships make money at invoice. No one's fooling me when they say they can't sell below MSRP.

All I'm saying is Mountain Mitsubishi might be losing a customer if they won't see the light. When South Coast is selling for 28K on a brand new GSR, it's hard not to arrange the trip. $150 one-way plane ticket, $300 in gas on the way back up, another $100 or so for food and etc. We're talkin around $600 in expenses! It's not that hard to justify flying down there.
Some dealerships actually get their cars at the invoice. And seriously, you have no idea which dealerships got what cars for under invoice.

Really the best your gonna do is a little over invoice. YOU CANT BE IGNORANT to the fact that those salesman are on 100% commission, and there is no benefit to them in selling you a car and getting a $100 or less paycheck.

I used to work in the mortgage industry, and hated it when people would ask for no closing cost mortgages.. I was like "seriously, you want me to do 3 weeks of work for you for free? Good luck, eat ****."

No, trust me if you pay the crappy $300 or whatever ($150) to vegas you don't pay CA sales tax. If you drive it off the lot after purchase u do pay sales tax. As long as its shipped you'll pay the tax in your state when you register it. Which you would pay if you bought it in WA anyway. So, unless you can find a person that will sell you a IX MR for under 33k locally I would jump on south coast. There is also no restrictive emission system on your evo either, thats BS.

the costco thing i have heard isnt a bad idea. i am pretty sure that they have some sort of relationship with area dealers, and you are supposed to get the car for $500 over invoice, with no haggling. i know you are hardcore on the invoice, but it might be worth a trip to their website just to see.

Restrictive emmision system on my Evo? What are you talking about? I never mentioned such a thing. Also did you talk to Sun Coast about paying their taxes because the last time I did, they said you have to pay for taxes there. You should check up on it first.

You're going to have to legally pay a "use tax" which amounts to exactly the sales tax of wherever you register the vehicle. Washington state will even issue a refund if you paid more sales tax wherever you bought it than if you got it here. The reverse is true as well, so if you go somewhere with no/low sales tax, you WILL pay the difference.

Just curious what kind of WORKS stuff did they put on? Our car sponsored by WORKS and you may be saving just by getting the car w/ all they put in to it. Our car's a monster with what we did with it.

Ok i love how some of you guys spill false facts as if they were true. back in the day (in the 90s) car's were either 49 state cars and calif. emissioned cars. that is no longer the case since a lot of people buy cars from out of state anyway and bring them back to calif also a lot of people also move there and bring their current cars... plus the USA as a whole is getting more strict with emissions so they just standardized it for everyone.

as for the tax thing, i can answer that cause 4 months ago, i got a new S4 out of Royal Audi in SF (for my sister) and brought it back to Seattle. I paid the Ca. tax and when it was registered up here they just charged the diff. in the tax amount cause Ca. tax rate is lower. I called The CA DMV and WA DMV (actually registration offices- i called 5 of them) and made sure that i wasn't gonna be doubled taxed before i did the transaction. The only way Ca. will not charge you sales tax is if you have the car transported by a professional transport company. I also learned that from the people i spoke with from Ca. DMV...

When I looked at it Missti, it had the full TBE(I think Signature $1,399) , the TB,Drop in filter, and the lower stress bars were replaced with a full plate. I might be missing one other thing, but that was the just of it.

Also had anti-sway bars and a Works throttle body. There might have been other things.

I dont understand why people just dont go to South Coast. They have the best prices around probably in the country. You know what you are getting, and you know you are getting a GREAT deal. I think a guy on the SOuth Coast thread said the whole process (mailing purchase and sale agreement, arranging shipment, and receiving the car) took about 3.5 weeks. Worth the wait in my opinion.

I think when I am ready to buy, I will for sure go to South Coast. I might call a few dealerships locally and see if they will match, or at least come close to, the prices South Coast is offering. I figure their prices plus any costs associated with shipping, etc.... would be reasonable.

If you buy in California, you have to pay CA sales tax. If you have it shipped, you dont, you only pay the tax where it will be shipped. In my case, I live in Oregon, so I will pay no sales/excise tax.

The dealers around here seem to be absolute idiots. I dont care if it has WORKS crap on the car. Did he want that? No. So, why would he want to pay for it? Why in the hell would he pay at or over MSRP if he can obviously get it cheaper??? Dont defend the stupid *** dealerships. They are on crack. I realize there are a lot of uninformed people who will pay the inflated prices, but the dude obviously knows what price he CAN get in the market, so why why why why would he pay more???!! Sorry, people are just so damned stupid and ignorant.

It seems like a no brainer to me.

Chill out kid. And I don't know where your getting your shipping, no pay tax idea but thats false. Call South Coast and they will tell you that you have to pay tax there, reguardless if your shipping it. Secondly, not everything is about price. That dealership is VERY good to its returning customers. They let you warentee work with modifications to your car. They arn't as stingy as other dealerships. If your car goes down, and you only have bolt ons, you don't have to worry about if your warentee will cover it.

I agree, Cloud. I want to stay on good terms with the people at Mountain Mitsubishi because I will be taking my car there for service and warranty work.

However, South Coast did say that if you have a car shipped from there you could avoid paying the CA sales tax. Instead, you'd pay the tax of the place it's delivered to.
