don't get a motorcycle helmet for auto racing. they don't have the fire protection or multiple impact protection. plus it won't pass tech.

correct it doesnt have the fire protection of a auto helmet, but using a motorcycle helmet for dragracing Will pass inspection, it might be different for autox and roadcoarse.

I've used motorcycle (Aria and Shoei) helmets for auto crossing in the past. Shouldn't be a problem.

Has to have the proper Snell SA, K or M 95 (maybe 90) or newer sticker inside it.

My motorcycle helmet has passed tech for every event I've been to. Certain events may require a snell 2000 rating or above.

A motorcycle helmet should not pass tech inspection at a drag strip. Some drag strips will let you slide others won't. Just pick up a good auto racing helmet like a Simpson and you'll be set for a while. I'm set until the year 2015 before I need to get another helmet .

Can you elaborate your statement? the new NHRA rules require a snell 200O standard. Just about any motorcycle helmet(full face protection) now days would have not only the snell 2000 certification but also the DOT certification.

I happen to also race bikes at the track. The fire protection is not necessarily a requirement . Also, if you happen to have a helmet that has the valid certifications keep in mind it expires after the 15th anniversary of the helmet manufacturing year. I was using old helmets I had back from 1990, my helmet were rejected at SIR and Firebird during the techs.

If you have some relevant new information please free to update me because I want to know. As per the harness, the only rule that really has changed this year is the requirement of the harness due to faster 1/4 mile times.

Whatever you do guys, please use your helmet, I regret the day I hit the asphalt with my face 17 years ago when I was riding my new bike and no helmet, it was a costly psicological issue when I grew up . My scars in my shin, lip and eyebrow follows me everyday I look at myself in the mirror.

Carlos

wait a sec, you have to have harness now too? is that a requirement? i know if you're in the 13 second or faster, you need a helmet, but how does the harness rule apply?
