DIY ECU Reflashing

Finally, ECUFlash offers support for the 9.

If you guys haven't seen this, check it out. You buy a cable from Tactrix or Mynes Performance and you have the ability to do everything Big Al can do to your ECU, all by yourself.

Fine tuning the Evo this weekend!

But of course. Safety first. I'm only going to be doing minor changes until Evo4Mad's datalogger is available. Then I'll be tuning dramatically.

yes Peter Parker, with great power comes great respoonibility...

don't get greedy like I did with my rally car a year and a half ago, sometimes too much boost and timing can be expensive, even on race gas. Lesson learned, be sure the knock sensor is working prior to remapping. It's a shame when a $50 part costs you a complete engine rebuild.

True. But not his experience . I've been mucking around with it...going to change a few simple things. Don't forget about the flash "ceiling" (number of times you can flash) .

Now i gotta get this new one. Seems they update this thing every 2 weeks lol.

I did not know that. Realistically, how many time can you reflash the chip?

The "ceiling" is somewhere between 100 to 300 flashes.

After that, the EEPROM loses integrity and can be seriously damaged.

Yeah I'm sure you could. It would be fairly easy, but 100 reflashes is quite a few. I think most wont see that many.

Yeah I think that's a standard figure Mitusbishi throws out. I'm sure the chips are capable of much more.
