PDXTUning has done all of the tuneing and motor build. i am not a professinal engine builder, so i will not take the risk with my own car. but i have donne a lot of work to my car.

as for the heads, i am unshure at this point. but i am considering it. all depends on $$$

I don't understand why you are jumping to the head gasket as the cause of the problem? Did your car over heat? Check the turbo for shaft play, when they go, it is obvious. Based on a a sudden plume of smoke, the fact that you found your catch can full etc, it would seem to me that you should drain the catch can and fire your car up. Basically, process of elimination, easiest stuff first. Hope you are not getting taken for a bunch of unnessesary labor

WTF.
Yeah. Really poor design IMO. They did it so that it would get a LEV rating. One of the requirments is that the cats have to be operating (read HOT) within a few seconds of starting the car. With the turbo in the way, post turbo cats don't heat up fast enough.

I actually have an catless uppipe sitting in my garage waiting to go in my wife's WRX this weekend. I have ~60k miles and I'm getting nervous that it'll break up soon...

well just got the word. car should be put back together by this afternoon. seems the turbo went due to the fact that the BOV could not vent enough air fast enough, thus creating compressor surge. Dustin has yet to exzamine the turbo to see exzactly what went wrong with it. but i am sure i'll find out soon.

50/50 mix because i would rather not have to worry about the seals on the pump. and the power gains from a 50/50 VS a 100% meth tune are not huge, there is a differance. but for me i would rather not have to worry.

boost was @ 23.5psi

That's a bunch of crap. I run ~30psi with only 1-1.5 counts of knock on straight meth. 7 psi is a huge difference

Straight meth is the way to go IMO. Im not sure why you would worry about the seals on a meth pump....

I am pretty sure he is using the Aquamist system. Aquamist recommends no more then 50% mixture of alcohol with their pumps. They do make a seal kit that will allow an increase up to 75% mixture of alcohol. They do have a new pump in the works that will allow 100% alcohol use.
