insurance = scam. I'm not surprised, you have to remember that these company's are in business to make money, not to save your *** when it's in a sling. They do the math, and figure that chances are substantially better that you will pay them more than they will ever have to pay you.

If you can afford it, insure yourself - even if you don't want to carry the risk of liability, just pay your "comprehensive insurance payments" into a savings account of your own, and you have the same odds (or better) that when you need the money you'll have enough. Chances are worse that the insurance compnay will cover you, and if you do it yourself you get to keep your money + interest.

I knew about the series of pulls on the ebrake, as there are certain steps that you can take to defeat traction control devices on higher end cars. That was a good read.

You know it was just interesting that my insurance was the prime company they were talking about. Yesterday a pretty knowledgeable Mitsu tech told me that they are capable of doing a limp home type override also. Interesting nonetheless.

good read. enjoyed the story.
hope I never have to go through what some of them did, making payments on a car while fighting with the insurance company as they 'accuse' you of fraud...

Yeah, thankfully I only had to make one payment. And they didn't directly come out and accuse me of fraud, but I know they were definitely trying to find evidence of it. Which really sucks. I wanna call my SIU guy and offer him a ride in an Evo.. lol.. maybe then he will know I was serious when I said I was getting another one.
