stupid brakes
YeaH My brakes are sqeeking and i know there is no way for anoyone to tell wat the problem is but is there an common thing that happens in lancers to make the brakes squeek? i would rather not take it in and have to pay... well i guess i could get it on warrenty but would like to know if its something i can fix myself... and ideas anyone?? it only does it when i brake heh hints the title of thread... if you can help that would be great. thanx...
Jason,
Jason,
if you drive and stop hard you may have glazed rotors (that blue-ish color on your rotors) causes squeeling often, usually you need your rotors cut or just get new ones. Also can be brake pads wearing low too... I don't know if its true on all cars, but some brakes are always in the slightest contact with the rotors at all times, if your brakes are squeeling while normal driving (without hitting the brakes) you def. need new pads...
Shouldn't be any warranty with that, you wear down the brakes, not the car... I don't think they would cover it unless its factory fault.. just FYI

Squeaking is not necessarily a problem. The warning sound when pads are low/worn is a really awful scratchin sound. Squeaking is often just a metal shaving (semi-metallic pads have metal in them) that is being worn down and is scratching the rotor.
If the sqeaking persists more than a week, take it in to see what's wrong. It's probably nothing.
