Depends on the octane of the fuel and the tune. 24 is a number that people like to toss around a lot but even that can be dangerous in the wrong car...

I'm runnin 94octane and a tune from Herb Jackson. I definitely don't wanna do something unsafe for the car. Just trying to get a little more educated.

I've heard he does a good job but I've never looked at any of his tunes/logged them yet so I can't speak for him personally . Either way just keep in mind that each car is different and anyone can come on here and say "ahh thats too little boost turn it up" and then.....

Right, I understand. I'm runnin 22psi right now. I was under the impression that, that was the highest I should safely be able to run without an upgraded fuel pump. So, I'm trying not to give in to turning up the boost and doing more harm than good to my car. With my supporting mods:catback, tp, dp, o2, intake, upicp, licp, ebc, and tune, it's just beyond my knowledge as to what would be safe.

I think adding a walbro would mess with my tune.

If the tune was done with the stock pump then yes it would. The car would run richer in some places than with the stock pump. Whatever he tuned it for boost wise it would be good to leave it where it as well. If you up the boost you can end up in parts of the map that he didn't adjust. If you want to know how far you can go with the car its probably best to just ask the tuner since he did the job on the car and (hopefully) knows it best.

Yeah, I think Herb tuned him for less boost. We should all kidnap him and stage an intervention.LOL

read post #71. IX's are blessed with much better fuel pumps. No need for Walbro until upgrading to a larger turbo (or possibly meth)
