Question Turboback question

Hello All, I am trying to piece together a turboback exhaust from local sellers only.

I already have a (Perrin) downpipe.

I just realized that I can't just attach a catback directly to my perrin downpipe ... like I had in my wrx. Can I use my stock cat, for a setup like this:

---[perrin 3" dp]---[stock cat]---[3" catback]---

Or I need to buy a 3" test pipe or some 3" aftermarket cat for it?

Thanks!

I am interested, but will it work with 3" downpipe and stock cat? Sorry if its a dumb question, but on subarus ... it seems like all aftermarket exhausts basically don't have the "test pipe". The "catback" exhausts are a little longer, but none have the cat.

Once both the dp and the catback have the stock flanges (many do) then it should bolt up. Of course then you defeat the point of having the dp since the cat will still do the restriction for you.

Ideally you build the exhaust from the back to the front (catback->high flow cat/test pipe->downpipe).

In any case, Mil.SPec makes a nice 3" High Flow cat or you can go with a good 3" test pipe.

I haven't seen your car around lately...different building now?

The reason I was asking about the stock cat is to see if I can just put on what I have right now and swap it out later ... I can't wait to have a downpipe installed. On my wrx it made a huuuge difference in low-end torque.

I ended up getting a perrin dp because it was such a good deal. Now I am looking into buying the rest of the exhaust pieces to have a turboback. I found some catback exhaust for sale locally, all about the same price:

- Espelir 500
- TurboXS
- Greddy Evo 2
- Tanabe Blue G + testpipe

Which one would you recommend? I am looking to make more power, but don't want it to be crazy loud. I like the way Cobb sounds ... good ballance.

I am in building 32 now ... are you in 42?

BTW I like your quote on open-source. I was a UNIX developer (FreeBSD) before.
