What are you planning on using the cage for?

 

I hear this very frequently on the boards, but I wonder how truthful this is? Does anyone know of someone who has died from a head impact to a rollcage in a street driven vehicle?

Yes, I understand that metal bars are hard , but if you pad w/SFI approved padding, your chances of impact damage (bodily)are definitely decreased. W/just a 3-pt stock seatbelt, it is very probable that your head will contact the door window header on a side impact without a cage, which is also hard metal w/only some basic plastic surrounding it.....also dangerous. Not being a dick here - just make sure you pad both for you and your passengers!

Back on topic.......very nicely done. Good job cleaning & spraying the sound deadened areas before the cage install. Attention to detail is what turns a good car into a great car!

It is very truthful, i remember one incident in Washington 2 years ago and i know there are many cases of this happening all over the world. The cars SRS is not designed around a big metal bar being near your head.

Cage for Road race.. Now im debate for motor build up.. im think go stay 2.0 bottom end build.

just a heads up that cage will not be approved by any racing series. So if you ever get to the point where you "have" to have a cage in the car you will need a non bolt in cage.

If SCCA approves them it is news to me. It will work for Drag Racing until 9.99 or 135mph. But i highly doubt that it will work for any road course use that requires a cage.

edit: just fallowed the link looks like that should work... im pretty surprised i wouldn't want to turst my life to a bolt in cage

 

SCCA finally just approve it! recently... i seen alot mitia use bolt on cage in. got pass inspected and let race on SCCA and NASA

Chris on the floor of the car if you plan on removing the sound deadening use dry ice instead of a heat gun, it is easier.

Where you already removed heat gun is the way to go because you can not get the dry ice to sit there.
