Then it's the perfect time to start! You never get experience until you get out and do it.

Everyone is going to be new to the track, and start with zero knowledge of the course. The key is to take it easy and learn the line and the course at a nice comfortable pace, and then slowly add speed.

You should plan on it, one day and you will be hooked.

Jid, how much is it to rent a truck? I don't want to drive me evo again for long trip. She had a trip from Seattle to LA and back again last year, just before the new year.
You'd need a truck and trailer, call U-haul. It's not that far though you'd be fine to drive. I'll probably trailer my car if I can because it will be the first time to the track with the new motor/build/setup and that way if I have problems I'm not stuck. And I run 4 degrees of camber in the front and that's a big drive on that alignment.

Already PM'd my interest, but figured I'd go post too just to add to the thread.

I think I might do this. Is there anything I need besides a helmet? (have plenty of those). Do you need a rollcage for a road coarse?

No, no other safety gear req'd. Your car does need to be in good mechanical condition, brakes must have acceptable wear, tires not bald, etc.

Cool, I'm good then! I'll make sure this doesn't conflict with any MX races and I should be good.

^^^^ Sweet.

Like he said, you just need a helmet and a car in good condition with tires and brakes at safe levels. No other safety equipment is needed. There will be a tech inspection to verify the car is sound.

Whens the latest you can sign up? Its a 700 mile round trip for me so its an easy $400-500 weekend. If I know I have enough $$$ left at the end of Feb I may go.

Is being in Japan during the track day a better excuse? I would be there if I wasn't across the world.

It sounds like your car should decimate out there. You would make half of us look like we are standing still...

You'd be surprised how quick our cars can be even in hands of novice track driver.
My first day ever at track day 2 years ago I was already passing some people I thought I would not pass.
But our virtue is our vice. Our cars can definitly make us look good, but you get away with so many mistakes because of the nature of our AWD platform

Only if you are either:

A. Coming back with a cargo container of parts

B. Coming back with a cargo container with a WRCar and a full factory support team for SCCA Pro Rally. (Yeah I can dream can't I?)
