Have you done a cost analysis... the materials required to produce 12 gallons of ethanol + the cost of the little gadget / (cost of a tank of gas/E85 x number of times filled up per year).
So lets say $30 for materials (Sugar and Yeast) for 34 gallons of E85
Cost of Gadget $10000 - $3000 in tax breaks= $7000
Tank of gas/E85 lets say $30 x 52 times a year that you fill up= $1560
That would take you 4.5 years to pay off the machine
After you actually paid off the gadget you would then only have to pay half the amount for fuel... In the long run it is good, but for most people I see this being a waste of money.
Not being a negative Nancy, just being realistic.

Freddie have you done the cool analysis?
so lets say filling up your tank with e85 is cool.
But having your own little e85 fill up station is ****ing awesome.
That would take you 800 more horsepower to be as cool.

Some nice tax incentives and such for Washington Drivers for the conversion.... I've converted anyway, so why not take advantage of them.
Many of them can be compounded too... for example, they'll give you grants and low/no interest loans to buy the equipment and run a business if producing the stuff, no tax on the sale of the stuff, NO TAX on the retail purchase of fuels for the vehicles you use for the business of producing and delivering these fuels, no tax on the vehicle you use, exemptions from state and local property and leashold taxes for 6 years, biz and occupational taxes reduced to .138%, flat rate vehicle registration ($45 bucks) and NO EMISSIONS testing and more.
Oregon has a GREAT program where if your vehicle qualifies as an AFV (Alternative Fuel Vehicle) and uses the stuff all of the time, you get .50 cents per gallon Tax Credit just for using the stuff up to $200 bucks a year per vehicle. That aint' nothin' to sneeze at.
Suddenly, I really like being an E85'r
