finally got to work on my own car!!!

I was starting to go into depression because I could never find the time to work on my Evo. So this last weekend I started the my recovery from the depression.

So what did I do?

Bolted my Evo IX SE onto our Dynopack and left it there for the weekend. Started with some baselines, tweeked the existing tune a little. Then we went to work and fired up our new injection kit with 50/50 water/meth, tuned a little till we where happy and safe. Then we bolted in HKS 272 cams and tuned till we where happy and safe. I was totally amazed with how well the HKS cams did on my car as every one on this board says they don't do much in a 9. Now its over 340ft/lbs for 3000RPM for a nice and wide power band. Now I just need to find the time to take her to the track to see what she can do.

Lastly we did all the testing with our 3" cat in place till the very last few pulls. Absolutely no measurable change when i swapped in a test pipe. WTF?

Mods: (PERRIN unless otherwise stated)
Turbo back exhaust
Intake
FMIC
PWI-2 injection kit
HKS 272 cams
255lph pump
AccessPort
EBCS
everything else is stock

Yellow line = Meth with stock cams
Green line = Meth with HKS 272's

Nice! I know going to the PERRIN 3" downpipe + test pipe was good for 42 bhp on a Dynajet with our local English Racing crew tune on my IX. It was the only change between dyno runs on the car, so IMO it's proven

Good to see you guys tweaking with the Mitsu!

I was baffled that it did not do anything. Actually I was pissed because I burnt myself changing it out and got that black under coating crap all over my hands and arms.

Could your post cat O2 be screwing with it? I couldn't get the O2 sensor out of my cat, so I ended up completely removing it and ER shut off the sensor back to the ECU. I know a lot of people end up shrouding the tip to prevent CEL.

Post cat o2 does nothing to control the ecu. It simply just measures catalytic efficiency. Front o2 is what tells the car what to do. Back one is just a nuisance imo...

Because we sell them and are VERY versed with the software. I can give you the sales pitch but that is not what this thread is about

It will trip the CEL tho, which would drop the car back to the limp home map, but I doubt you're getting that with 395 hp

surprise to see HKS cams makes nice gain on IX, unlike the one result I've seen before.
