Oil Pressure Issue?

Hey guys, have a concern:

I was going about 55-60 the other day on 167 south driving behind a slow *** poser who wouldn't get the F over, so I through it in 4th and and punched it to pass him/her on the right. After about a second or two I was going about 70-75 when I happened to look at my spedometer and noticed a single check engine light flash, AKA Knock. I immediately got off it and didn't see the light again, but after that I noticed my oil pressure has dropped a bit. I know this because my defi warning indicator on the oil pressure guage was set at around 25 psi, and now my pressure drops to as low as 15 psi at idle. I checked my oil and it's full and I haven't noticed any leaks. I'm running amsoil 10-30 and have been so for almost a year now. Should I be worried with the lower oil pressure or am I just overly concerned?

Also, is anyone planning on going to the car show this weekend at the Alderwood Mall? I've registered, but wouldn't mind rollin in with someone else.

Do you have a sandwich adapter or is the sensor in one of the extra holes on the filter housing? And what car show is at Alderwood?

25 psi at idle? My car has never been that high at idle, except maybe at start up in cold weather. The service manual calls out "4.2 psi or higher" at the oil pressure switch, wherever that is.

After a track session, with 10W30, my oil pressure light would flicker. I don't know the pressure because I didn't have a gauge then. I've since installed a gauge, with the sender at the base of the oil filter, and after lapping I now get around 10psi with 10W40, no oil light flicker.

15 psi at idle is fine, but it is weird that your idle oil pressure seems to have changed.

That's good to hear, but yeah, the oil pressure changing at idle is what worried me. Everything sounds good though, thanks!!! Guess I should have looked at the manual first.

Those sandwich adapter I am not a fan off. The 42draft design plug adapter works nicely with my Defi's. If it isn't leaking then I doubt thats your problem though.

Do you have an oil temp gauge? If your temps go over 200-220F then your pressure will drop some at idle but not alot. Just curious what do you rev too also?

ok so typical oil psi should be around 12-15 psi is fine any lower i'd be concern for idle, 40 to 60 psi at 2,000 rpm. I'd recommend doing a oil change and see if the oil looks metallic. If so i'd be concern about your bottom end bearings and possibley oil pump goin out.

Nope, no oil temp guage.

So I'm guess then my oil pressure if normal. Last time I looked at my oil it didn't look metallic.
