AHHHHH!!! another problem with my evo!!!

I was driving down the freeway just fine nothing wrong at all not smashing on it or anything, got home turned the car off, 10 minutes later i came out and started it and it went to my aunts house about 5 miles away. On the way I started noticing my clutch pedal started to get spongy, with a bit more free play in it, I started to be cautous but still no smell of clutch or any slipping, no shifting problems either, I got there and left back to my house, now the pedal started to get even more spongy with more and more free play, By the time I got home my pedal was now 90% free play but still no smell of clutch, slipping or shifting problems, I garaged it and went to work, when I came back the whole pedal is now free play and does not come back up by itself???? I checked the brake/hydralic fluid and it was in between max and min. so I added more to the max line. When the car is off, I have to force it into the gears but when I press the pedal all the way down the car starts right up? What could my problem be? Is the clutch gone? It doesnt sound like it would be the clutch done from the symptoms that happened and it didnt smell at all, I havnt been beating on it to the point where my clutch should be toast??? its so wierd how my car went from fully functional to this all in a matter of 30 minutes?????

Any ideas to what this problem may be???

First thing to try, bleed your clutch.

Second, look up under the dash by the clutch arm for any leaking, if the clutch master is bad, or leaking it will leak down inside your cab.

Third, check your slave cylinder, if your seals are bad your clutch will slowly work its way down, just like your describing.

These all three come from experience by the way, the first time, it was my clutch master, but that time it did not do exactly what your describing, but it was leaking inside so I knew it was bad, I replaced and it went away......for awhile.

Now the slave cylinder, when that went out, it did EXACTLY what yours is doing, and if I bleed it, it would be good, until I went on a long freeway drive, then once I pushed it, it would stay down.

So like I said, bleed your clutch, hopefully you just got some air in there, but if it comes back I would replace your slave cylinder. GL.

Mo as you described it the pedal wouldn't budge off the floor... if it comes back up with little effort, you may just need to rebleed the clutch. As mentioned before check the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder. You may need to pull up the carpet by the firewall on the drivers side in order to see if the master cylinder is actually leaking... If it is completely stuck on the floor and won't budge, do not pull on it as you may damage the clutch fork or the clutch itself!

Should be, most likely the slave like I said.

Its a used car, probably with some miles, and just one of those chances that you got a bad part.

The master cylinder would most likely not cause that problem, this is coming from a lot of experience in the brake and alignment field.

Although like I said, definitely check it, the slave usually causes the problem you are experiencing, the seals fail and let air in.

yea seems like a internal problem...probably throw out bearing and possibly have to replace the pressure plate and clutch. might as well put a new flywheel in there too.
